Domain Validation (DV) SSL certificates provide basic encryption for a single domain, such as example.com and www.example.com.

DV certificates verify ownership of the domain only and are typically issued within minutes. They enable HTTPS, display the padlock icon, and meet browser security requirements.

DV SSL is suitable for:

  • Personal websites

  • Informational sites

  • Non-critical pages without sensitive data

An example of a DV SSL provider is RapidSSL, which offers fast issuance and global browser compatibility.

DV certificates do not verify business identity and are not recommended for ecommerce or login-based platforms.
